PCCN FAQ:

1. How many questions are on the exam?

At the present time there are 125 questions. 100 are scored and the other 25 are included to establish validity and are not scored. You are allowed two and a half hours to complete the exam.


2. What is the Synergy Model?

The AACN Certification Corporation and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses recognize progressive care as part of the continuum of critical care. AACN's vision is dedicated to creating a healthcare system driven by the needs of patients and families where critical care nurses make their optimal contribution. The AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care is the conceptual framework that actualizes the vision. It defines nursing practice based on the needs of the patient and the characteristics of the nurse to attain optimal patient outcomes.

3. Do you have to be a member of AACN to take the test?

No, but exam fees are reduced if you are a member. Please contact us for specific fees, we will be glad to send you the latest information.

4. How many times a year is the exam given?

The test is available year round at Applied Measurement Professionals (AMP) testing centers throughout the United States. Site locations will be provided after you register for the exam.

5. Will you be available to help if I have questions?

Yes. We will be happy to answer any questions and to help you study.
